Leaving for work last week, my son and I discovered a large dying American Cockroach at our front door of our Capalaba home.  Given my chosen line of work, the odd Cockroach does not have a long life expectancy once voyaging into our humble abode. Much to my sons delight, I thought it would be interesting to send the little guy (the American) into kindy for the day, where my sons class were coincidentally learning about insects. Needless to say, the kindy teachers were none to impressed and I was greeted by a few disgusted looks and even a squeal.

Cockroaches are the ultimate pest. We all hate them, think they are disgusting and I think every one will agree the second they see a cockroach its definitely time to call in the pest controller.

Despite our distaste for the dreaded cockroach, looking into the facts, we learn they are quiet an interesting little creature. Here's what most people probably already know about Cockroaches....

  • They are resilient little buggers, supposedly capable of surviving the explosion of an atomic boom (or so the legends say)
  • There are more then one species of cockroach. Most commonly we see the American Cockies (pictured above) that are approximately 3-4cm long and Brown in colour.  Or the dreaded German Cockroaches, tiny little cockroaches (and lots of them), that breed very, very quickly.
  • Our kitchens and their endless supply of food seem to be their favorite places to hang out and inflict aforementioned terror on said hosts. We tend to find the Germans places with warmth and a food supply, like the dishwasher, oven or fridge.
  • It almost always takes a whole can of spray (off the shelf from Woolies Brand Spray) to kill one cockroach.
  • They are creepy looking, move swiftly and quiet easily will send most women, children & the occasional man into a screaming, shuddering fit, followed by a swift tumble out the first available exit to freedom.

But here's a few facts that you may not know....

  • Cockies are capable of living in extreme conditions. Yes they definitely enjoy south east Queenslands humidity, warmth and sunshine, which makes sense as they enjoy the tropics and subtropical regions of the world. In fact, Cockies can also withstand all different climates including extremely cold environments allowing them to live in places such as the Artic.
  • Thinking about getting a new pet?  Your in luck. Australia is home to the world's largest cockroach, the Australian giant burrowing cockroach (Macropanesthia rhinoceros), which can grow to 9 cm long and weigh more than 30g. That's about the same size as a mouse or a big hermit crab.
  • Cockroaches are mainly nocturnal and run away when exposed to light.
  • It is said that Cockroaches will "inherit the earth" if we humans destroy our race as a result of nuclear war. As the legend leads us to believe, Cockroaches do indeed have a much higher radiation resistance than humans, with the lethal dose perhaps six to 15 times then that for humans.
  • Cockroaches have six legs, two antennae and some have wings. However, most winged cockroaches are not particularly adept at flying.

So now that we know the facts, the important question is how do we get rid of them?

Stay tuned for part 2....

The Annoyance caused by Pests

Pests cause great problems and monetary damage in the commercial and residential lives of modern man. Substantial efforts have been made worldwide to get rid of annoying and costly pests which impact negatively on the our daily lives, but sadly, the nuisance caused by the pest is escalating daily, with factors like global warming.

Queensland and Brisbane: The Home of Pest Issues

It is estimated that about 40% of the population of the Australian continent uses pest control products and services on a regular basis, with termites being one of the main problems in Australia causing massive damage annually across the country. Queensland and Brisbane are some of the worse affected areas. Rising climates and other factors are making pest control more and more of a necessity in Brisbane business and home owners daily lives as pest control and termite prevention in Brisbane is on the increase with pests returning yearly.

The declining Pest control Services

More so, the products and technology for pest control have improved in Australia over the course of time, but unfortunately, the quality of the individuals providing the services has not improved, as many amateur or cowboys operate in the pest control market place. Recent trends show that the people in Queensland and Brisbane have struggled the most within Australian against the tyranny of pests, mainly termites, making Queensland one of the worst effect places in the world.

Escalating Pest Issue

We provide several services for pest control which are not only reliable and longer lasting for our customers in Queensland, Brisbane and Greater Brisbane but are far more reliable and effective as well as access to non toxic products compared to most of the other pest control services available in the Brisbane market. Based on practical results and only using the best and safest treatments and latest technology, we assure quality at a fair cost. We offer services centered against termites but also cover spiders, cockroaches, silverfish, ants, bees, wasps, pigeons and rats and many more. Our treatments don’t produce harmful gases and residues and don’t damage properties, like some of our competitors. The variety of Pest control methods and services as well as our level of professionalism makes our team the best in the Brisbane pest control market. Once our customers use us they don’t use others. We make sure that we eliminate pests with the help of our up-to-date services and the latest treatments and technology like non-invasive thermal detection.

In addition to South East Queensland and greater Brisbane we have had a large number of reports of shady companies in areas such as Bulimba, Norman Park, Cannon hill and Murarrie. We as pest control company cover these areas amongst other acrossthe whole of Brisbane and as far as the Gold Coast. Sadly, some of our customers have reported a lot of cowboy style operations who are not only doing poor work and using potentially harmful treatments but are also over charging,  using cheaper and older style chemicals to save money and leaving mess behind after completing the work.  Using cheaper inferior treatments can not only prevent long term protection but can actually cause severe harm to your property,  family and pets. Having been disillusioned with the quality of the pest control services provided by our competitors, many of our clients have become cynical with pest control services in Brisbane but after giving us a chance to change their minds they are all genuinely satisfied and many have become long term repeat customers after just one treatment by us. We are happy to provide testimonials to that affect and do so regularly, on our blogs, on our website and social media pages.... Feel free to take a look.
